It is with great regret that we have learnt of the death of Keith Abraham. Together with the late David Butt, Keith was a founder of the Trust, one of its first trustees and was deservedly chosen to be its first president.
Out of his own resources Keith provided the ‘seed corn’ initial funding to enable the Trust to launch its appeal for donations to support the Long Bridge Wing project, which has culminated in the splendid new extension to the museum on the Square.
His final generous act on behalf of local heritage was to make possible the return to the town of the 1914 Barnstaple fire pump, now proudly displayed in the new wing of the museum. Keith’s support for the museum was in keeping with his years of dedicated service to the community of Barnstaple and North Devon.
To continue working in the same spirit is the best memorial that the Trust can offer.
